I have always had a passing interest in astronomy but it was not to little more than 4 years ago that I was truly bitten by the astronomy bug. Astrophotography now plays a major role in my life so much so I spend my days monitoring weather and spaceweather websites. By night I tour the county of Donegal in the northwest of Ireland, where I was born and raised, seeking out the idyllic foregrounds to complement the regions famously dark skies.

I got up at 02:40 in the hope that I would see my first NLC display of the season. I was not disappointed! The season is certainly off to an impressive start, long may it continue!
