In northeastern Arizona, in the heart of the Navajo Nation lies one of the most spectacular and less known Canyons. Canyon de Chelly consists of a network of deeply sculpted sandstone passages. The breathtakingly beautiful sheer walls and dramatically eroded formations reveal a geological record that spans untold millenia. There are centuries old cliff- dwellings and the land in the floor of the Canyon is still inhabited and farmed by hundreds of Navajo families. Evening was just beginning to fall when I stood looking over the rim of this isolated and rugged Canyon
